Austin American Statesman published on Thursday January 27, 2012 the members of The State Board of Education pressed Texas education commissioner on standardized testing, on how teachers in the classroom are teaching the students but spend more time preparing for the exams then actual learning. The State Board of Education ensures that the students will not fall through the cracks since they would hold teachers and school districts accountable. Robert Scott, the head of Texas Education Agency acknowledged that some schools overall-prepare the students for tests which become overwhelming standard by which education is measured statewide. He also said by grouping students in subgroup and overlooking their higher-performing is only allowing the schools to pull up the average for a school or district that is then deemed successful overall. I feel as parent that teachers should spend more time on teaching and not spending a year teaching for standardized tests. I feel as if the way the schools are going by to preparing the student is not working and do not improve students scores. State officials and legislate are against of what is happening about the test, but feel as if it been encouraged by how much credence Texas now gives to test results.
